About me

In short, I am a tinkerer, burner, and all around maker. This blog is a living testament to the things that I discover as I travel through life with the insatiable need to understand, disassemble, and rebuild anything and everything that I can. I write here so hopefully others can learn from my mistakes just as I do from others on the Internet.

By day I am software engineer creating highly scalable and performant solutions for the Internet. Although I’ve been programming computers since I was young, my professional career started back in 2005 as a junior engineer working for CNET, now owned by CBS. After mastering Java and rebuilding mySimon.com I left to help build the Semantic Web with Radar Networks in 2007. After a few years of grappling with complicated scaling and concurrency issues involved with offering this technology to consumers I decided to switch gears and move into a B2B enterprise direction. I became the lead engineer at Transpond.com which we sold to Webtrends about a year and half later. Now I am the Director of Engineering and founding engineer at Buyer’s Best Friend, a wholesale market place for artisanal and specialty foods.
